Many of our customers are established companies or even market leaders in a particular segment. We are therefore delighted to be able to expand a very special cooperation! It is not a start-up from Berlin, London or Silicon Valley, but from our neighbouring town of Kenzingen in the beautiful Black Forest! Six years ago, Markus Bergmann had an idea for more sustainable mobility. The cycling industry was already on the rise at the time, so why should there not be a way to transport larger items by bicycle in a climate-friendly way?
Today, his company CARLA CARGO is the global market leader in the field of bicycle cargo trailers. These cargo trailers make it possible to transport heavy loads weighing up to 150 kilograms without requiring the rider to be in exceptional physical condition. The cargo trailer is electrically powered and offers a climate-friendly and emission-free transport alternative to the car! An integrated mechanical overrun brake ensures the rider’s safety. The trailer can also be used separately as a handcart.
Around 1.5 years ago, WECUBEX Systemtechnik GmbH became involved. Founder Markus Bergmann needed the metal frames for the cargo trailers, which we have been manufacturing ever since. And as CARLA CARGO continues to grow and there are now even more than 300 CARLAS in operation for Amazon in New York, we have expanded our cooperation. We have therefore taken over assembly for the now 12-member team around Markus Bergmann.
“We are pleased about the support in developing the company, as the number of CARLAS is steadily increasing. For us as an established sheet metal fabricator, it is a rewarding experience to work so closely with a dynamic company,” says WECUBEX Managing Director Christian Graeve.
Our Managing Director also sees it as a positive that CARLA CARGO stands for sustainable mobility and that the project clearly has a great future ahead of it. This was also demonstrated recently by the “Wir machen Mobilitätswende” competition organised by the Ministry of Transport. Yesterday, Thursday, CARLA CARGO was honoured as one of seven award winners.
Congratulations!
