After WECUBEX Systemtechnik GmbH took part in the IHK Südlicher Oberrhein’s Training Day in May, the company participated in the Job-Start Fair in Endingen am Kaiserstuhl on 25 and 26 October last week. At another regional careers information fair, school pupils and potential applicants were able to find out everything they needed to know about the WECUBEX training programme for 2019. There was a great deal of interest.

Two halls, two days of events and several hundred visitors per day – these were the key figures for the 2018 Job-Start Fair in Endingen. “The particularly high level of interest shown by teachers from vocational preparation schools in the surrounding area in WECUBEX Systemtechnik is very promising,” explained HR Officer Theresa Weigand. At its stand, WECUBEX displayed not only information material in the form of flyers, but also small demonstration sheet metal parts, giving potential trainees a better insight into production work. In addition, HR Officer Weigand and Plant Manager Marco Graf were each supported by two trainees per day, who shared their own experiences of the various professions with visitors.
The event therefore got underway at 6.00 pm on the very well-attended Thursday evening. Many pupils came with their parents and found out about possible career prospects together. The first day ended at 8.30 pm. The following day, scheduled from 9.00 am to 12.30 pm, was dedicated entirely to school classes.

WECUBEX Systemtechnik is offering a total of five different professions in the commercial and technical fields for the training programme starting in September 2019. In addition to training as an industrial clerk, mechatronic construction mechanic, process mechanic for coating technology and specialist in warehouse logistics, WECUBEX is expanding its range of professions at its Herbolzheim site for the coming year with one additional position: IT specialist for system integration. All five professions offer a wide range of fields of work and future-proof training.
WECUBEX also attracted considerable attention at the fair for the advantages of training at the medium-sized industrial company, as particular importance is placed on factors such as team building and personal support. Trainee construction mechanic Tim Rinkenauer confirms this: “Over the past four weeks alone, on the one hand, we visited the EuroBlech trade fair in Hanover together and gained many insights into new developments in the metalworking industry. On the other hand, in September we had our trainee excursion, combining a customer visit with a fun activity in an escape room. That was really great.”

Following the second careers information event, WECUBEX is already looking positively towards participating again next year. The Job-Start Fair offers a great opportunity to make personal contact with potential applicants and to present the sheet metal manufacturer’s service portfolio in a more tangible way.

The Black Forest is one of the most beautiful cycling regions in Germany – more than 200 km of signposted mountain biking trails stretch between Karlsruhe and Basel. The Herbolzheim site is therefore now supporting active cycling for employees at WECUBEX Systemtechnik GmbH. Through a cooperation with bicycle leasing provider JobRad, employees can now benefit from discounted conditions.

“I personally love cycling in my free time. The landscape here in Herbolzheim in Baden is simply made for it. So it is a pleasure to support our employees in doing the same,” says Managing Director Christian Graeve about the new cooperation. The high level of interest at the launch event on 9 November at 5 pm showed just how eagerly employees had been awaiting this partnership. On that Friday afternoon, around 50 interested employees attended to find out about the terms and conditions and the leasing process. Representatives from JobRad presented their portal and answered participants’ questions in small groups and one-to-one discussions. At the same time, the main supplier Fahrrad Fischer introduced itself. The bicycle shop from Kenzingen brought ten e-bikes to the WECUBEX factory premises, allowing employees to test different models directly on site.

After all questions had been answered, the highly successful launch event came to an end at around 6.30 pm. In the following days, the first employees immediately ordered new bicycles. This also showed WECUBEX as an employer that the partnership was met with great acceptance among the workforce. Cycling enthusiasts can now order their bicycle in five steps: they simply need to create a user account with JobRad, select their desired bicycle, and JobRad will place the order. The final step is simply: get cycling!

WECUBEX is gradually developing its benefits programme further in order to remain an attractive employer in the future. And with its impressive landscape, the Black Forest offers the perfect conditions for numerous cycling trips – whether to work or in their free time.
